Moona Islam is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist trained in London, United Kingdom. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Master of Science in Speech and Language Therapy. She is currently pursuing the Master of Science conversion.

Moona is trained in; Neonatal and Paediatric Dysphagia (swallowing difficulties), Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding, Challenging Behaviour, Makaton for Professionals, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-Handicapped Children (TEACCH). She has extensive experience with; Intensive Interaction, Touch and Communication PAC (TACPAC), Attention Autism, Adult-Child Interaction, speech sound and language therapies including Phonological Awareness and Colourful Semantics, setting up communication friendly environments e.g. using Visual Schedules, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and Messy Play with food.

Clinical experience involves working with babies, children and young adolescents, specialising in complex needs (mild/moderate and profound communication and feeding difficulties). Moona has worked with clients and their caregivers in; community clinics, nurseries, mainstream schools, special schools and assisted in tertiary hospitals, whilst working for the NHS in London. She has gained independent experience working in clients' homes. She has delivered therapy in one-to-one sessions, group and via training to parents, support staff and multidisciplinary professionals.

Moona also has an interest in contributing to research in speech and language therapy; she has recently completed a small scale study in mealtime interactions in typically developing children to aid understanding in supporting children with complex needs during mealtimes at City, University of London.

A highly professional, warm and friendly therapist who puts her clients' needs first to help them and their caregivers, meet their communication potential and ensure their feeding skills are safe and developed to the fullest by using evidence based clinical practice, and working closely with relevant other professionals.
