Carline is a bilingual Speech-Language Therapist with more than 5 years of experience working with preschool and school-age children. She graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Masters in Speech and Language Pathology.
She started her Speech Therapy journey in a local pediatric hospital. The wide variety of experience she has includes working with children with language delay, speech sound disorder, stuttering, and social communication difficulties. In addition, she was part of a transdisciplinary team and she led several SLT projects (E.g. revision of caregiver training workshops). She was also a key member of the ECHO (Early Childhood Holistic Outcomes) Technical Assistance Team and was involved in the national roll out of the ECHO framework in the EIPIC (Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children) centres, where she provided training and coaching for Early Intervention professionals.
Carline is a firm believer that the focus in therapy should be to discover and build on a child’s strengths. She values collaboration with caregivers and empowering families to help their children achieve their full potential. In 2022, Carline's dedication to building relationships with caregivers was recognized when she was awarded the Gold Award in the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards. The hospital also presented her with the Service from the Heart Award (Bronze) in 2020.
Carline also contributes actively to research. She presented a poster on Telepractice: Training and coaching of early intervention professionals in Singapore during COVID-19 at the Singapore Allied Health Conference 2021. Prior to this, she also led research on the Effectiveness of Phonological Therapy for naming in Mandarin-speaking adults with Aphasia in 2016. Carline was awarded the Research Travel Award and was invited to present at the 14th Neuropsychological Rehabilitation Special Interest Group of the WFNR Conference in Cape Town.
In addition to being a Speech Therapist, Carline is a mother of a two-year-old toddler. Her experience as a caregiver has also deepened her appreciation of family-centered practice.
